NME Review 15/3/06

"Like Oasis having a stab at a Buzzcocks song, there's a riotous fever at play within the faux yob clatter of this Newcastle five piece that earmarks them out as a very good thing indeed, especially closer "To Your Left I'm Right" which is absolutely brilliant, seek out and enjoy." NME

Southstreet

While most bands at the moment seem to happy heading down the Road of Britpop or Beat, these boys come through a very different avenue though , Southstreet from Gateshead UK, play a very late 70's branded sound, almost Street music but without that hard edge there are melodies in there as well, the guitar fuelled 'In The Debts' stomps along with razor guitars and a niffty Chorus, with a middle break guitar, its been done before many times but not in recent times and it sounds fresh..

Michael Brunskill (Vocals) Ryan Quinn (Guitar and Vocals) Jon Sams (Lead Guitar) Anth Gallagher (Bass) Sean Connelly (Drums), indeed have a Powerful sound, and Michael Brunskill is very skillful with his vocal work giving the band that edge, the tune 'Dont Feel Ashamed' on the bands demo is a fine example of that.Formed in 2004 a flurry of well received gigs quickly saw the band gain a reputation as one of the most exciting live acts in their region... Britpop, punk, post-punk, pre-punk, rock, garage rock, garage punk, punk-rock, pub-punk-pre-rock-post-rock. You decide..Menu
