The Rifles Are :- Joel Stoker, Lucus Crowther, Rob Pyne, Grant Marsh, not in that order. One of the leading lights on the UK Britpop/Rock scene of the past few months. The Rifles with tunes that bring back memories and songwriting of times gone by yeah The Jam/Clash and The Specials all spring to mind and it's about time a band could pull it all off with such Class. The Boys sat and listened to us boys from Sohostrut as we threw some questions at them this is what we had to say . When and how did the band get together? We got together just over two years ago through school/college and friends but were all originally from the same area. If you had to sum up your sound in a phrase, what would that be? A slice of everyday life Who are your main influences? British rock n roll/motown/punk Which songs would you pick out as being particularly special to the band? Peace and quite was the first thing we ever put on vinyl so that was pretty special but they all mean a lot to us The video for “Local Boy” is pretty impressive. Is there as story behind the song? It's about an old boy been there and seen everything and hes reflecting on how some youngsters know a lot less than they think. You're on tour soon. How have the songs gone down live? Really well we've just started to put a couple of acoustic songs in and they break the pace of the set up nice. You supported Milburn recently. Tell me a bit about it. We've become good mates with the milburn boys. It was blindin touring with them they're a brilliant live band and they made us raise our game every night. The album is out now,. Give me a rundown of it. Pretty much every track is like a little short story some are up beat and some are a little slower but there is a strong theme that runs through the whole album The music scene has undergone a renaissance over the last couple of years. Are there any new bands out there at the moment who you particularly like? I'm still really into the libertines first album and I also think that alex turner is in a league of his own when it comes to lyrics. If you had to pick one life-changing record from another band/artist what would it be - and why? Oasis had a massive impact on me and all my friends at the time when they we're kicking off they got a lot of kids all over the country listening to bands again so I think they were very important.. copyright on pictures un-known if you own the copyright please let us know so we can credit...Menu |
