Anyone who know's me will know of my Passion for the Music of Ian Mcnabb, but it took me along time to lay my mits on 'Potency-The Best Of' wonder why I left it so long..Mcnabb has always had that knack of grabbing me when I need to hear a real heart warming tune and pull me up by the socks, he's that good.Many have said that his tunes although well crafted are depressing, but others have said they find every tune uplifting and yeah I fall into that one.From my early introduction of The Icicle Works, through my Good friend and one time Penny Arcade front Man Nicky Jarvis I was hooked -Mcnabb was everything I was not into at that time and perhaps everything I really wanted to be part of-who knows.He has influenced me in life through is songs and sits as one of my all time Idols..

So Potency is it any good I hear you SCREAM...Well how does 30 tracks of Mcnabb at his finest grab you .Great British Pop with out ever being Britpop..Tunes on here have flirted on being great Radio friendly to being down right anti-radio..The Opening ' Liverpool Girl' pays homage to all things from his home town," She's a Liverpool Girl-She likes her Crisps" with lyrics like that well hey, there are gems like 'Great Dreams of Heaven' - which you really must catch the man doing live.

The Great winding Harp on 'Merseybeat'is more than hypnotic it's mind bending, and those vocals are so sweet.What Mcnabb has always managed to do is put weight into the tunes when needed and hold back when needed, a crafted music creator I'd say .'You Stone My Soul' yeah that magic guitar sounding intro,skips it's way along, never breaking any speed but, holding back and swirling, it's a highlight of the album without a doubt,but being a double sider, the added cd 'Potency Plus' how can you fail to part with £10 of your hard earned HEY..
