THE AUXILIARIES, NOTTINGHAM JUNCTION 7, 27 JANUARY 2007 Just when you thought it was all becoming a bit bland, along come these boys (and girl) to make you remember what really matters. A top notch bunch of chords, some lyrics summing up what contemporary life is about and an attitude of class. Plus that essential element in the armoury of the true soul believer.

THE RICKENBACKER

played to perfection tonight by guitarist Millo Millington. The Auxiliaries are all these things and more. As we advised the world wide web when they were featured on Sohostrut some months ago. They came on stage towards the end of the excellent all dayer at Nottingham's Junction 7 on 27 January, when many of the audience had moved on to new things. But this band didn't care. They simply walked on stage, plugged in their guitars and blasted those left in the venue away. With their anger, their self belief and their post-Blairite world view that is totally now. They ran through the tunes that anyone smart enough to check out their website - www.theauxiliaries.co.uk - and My Space - http://www.myspace.com/theauxiliariesmusic - will have come know well before now.

The temptation to pogo like its 1977 was just too much.

Delivered to perfection by singer and guitarist Lee Unwin - with bassist Nikki Dunbar and drummer Paul Williams providing spot on rhythm section -they included band classics like “Giro Lane”, “There's A Name For People Like You” and new tune “Luke”. I stood near the stage and found myself unable to keep still. The temptation to pogo like its 1977 was just too much. This is a band of inspiration. They sum up a view that says that punk and mod and rhythm and soul are what matter in the world. The Auxiliaries allow you to dream - and believe. That three chords and a shedload of switched on attitude really can change the world. Or at least make a Saturday night in England something very special. Can't wait until the next one. Rob Massey
