The House Of Love

Finally, Fontana decide to take their turn to delve into the well that is the House of Love's back catalogue.

So what do they give ?

A mish mash of singles, albums tracks, b-sides but sadly nothing previously unreleased.

The tracklisting for disc one carries all the singles from the Fontana period but they are to be found amongst assorted album tracks from their final two albums. Where is the logic Mr Fontana ?

One cannot quibble that these tracks are included but one of the most under rated guitar bands of the eighties and early nineties deserves a little more TLC !!

Side two is more interesting in that it seeks to compile all b-sides and rarities and put them in one place. However, it is not definitive !

On the plus side I'll be able to get Clothes on CD without having to find the very rare I Don't Know Why I Love You on one of many CD formats of singles that Fontana put out !

To me it would have made more sense to follow the Creation Years format and put out everything they recorded, not just enticing the completist but also allowing newer fans a chance to hear everything in one place ! An opportunity missed, but at least it's an improvement on The Best Of .......which was the sound of the barrel being scraped.
At least at £7.99 it's not gonna break the bank.
