The Money Suzuki..Have Mercy cd

"99%" opens the new Mooney Suzuki Album. You can't help thinking that is way over the odds for the band to EVER break the UK now, what they should have done is to have seized the moment with 'Alive and Amplified' the last single in the UK, as it was the bands biggest UK hit, it was not followed up with much in the UK and most people would now say Mooney Who ? But this is the new release it's all very well ok.

So do any tracks save the album ?

Opening song 99% is a powerful tune-it really does show off just how good these guys are with Melodies, and could well follow on from the Alive and Amplified days, but after that Have Mercy loses it's way for this listener,Me I really liked the last Album, all very late 60's sounding and packaged straight form 1969.This is more subtle, more relaxed not trying hard so to please the retro guys so much but once again try and break it big time, it does not works. Now and again things almost work, now and again it falls at the 1s hurdle, the band often seem to pull of tongue in cheek songs but with tracks like 'Good Ol' Alcohol' jam packed with Piano and good time charlie sing along but what he F@@@ and I can't help thinking they may have just pushed that to far this time ..So do any tracks save the album ?sorry guys not this time...Shame.. and I never thought I would say that about this band..
