You can check them out at http://www.myspace.com/thehaize and myspace.com/thehaizelive . They've got some strong material there. We especially liked “Lost In Your Feeling” and “Free My Soul”. They're gigging pretty extensively, especially London, Liverpool, the East and West Midlands. Rob Massey put some questions to 'the band

When long has the band been going?
We played our first gig in September 2002, so about 4 and a half years.

Where are you from?
We're all from a town just south of Leicester called Market Harborough.

How did you get together? Were you mates before?
We were all mates before me and Paul had been to primary school together and had bands then. I met Joe and secondary school And Paul met Alex and Nick then we all met up when we started our G.C.S.Es and formed a band for some school concert it all went from there really.

Where does the name come from?
Well everyone else in the band reckons we just made it up but I think it came from looking through Beatles and Jam chord books and the lines, “My inspiration seems to vanish in the haze,” from Help and “Through the haze I can see my girl” A bomb in Wardour street. God knows why it's got an I in it one of us obviously couldn't spell it right

Tell us a bit about your local scene?
Pretty crap really, there's a few pubs in Harborough we play at and in Leicester there's the Charlotte and a few other little venues no real scene to speak of and few good bands.

Who would you say have influenced your direction?
We take things from any bands we listen to really, stuff like oasis and the stone roses, everyone seems to be in a big Beatles phase at the minute, in pursuit of perfection.

Which of your tunes are the most important to you? Tell me a bit about them.
I can't speak for everyone but probably Free My Soul it came together so quickly and the lyrics are just nonsense it's the standard set closer, long outro, sometimes drum solo, tight and catchy.

Do you have a main songwriter, or are the tunes all band compositions?
Paul and Alex used to right most the music and I put the lyrics together. But Paul is starting to right more and more on his own and its sounding really impressive. So any way and many ways.

Where have you played live? Any gigs that stand out?
We've only played in the capital once that was a good gig some where in Kensington. The biggest crowd we've played to is probably bout 5 or 6 hundred when we supported aging rockers Nazareth. But in March we play The Cavern (Liverpool), Jamm (Brixton) with MANI djing and Birmingham Bar Academy so should an enjoyable month.

Are there any books or films that you would mention as influencing you?
We all have our favourite films but they don't really influence us or our music.
If you had to choose any record as of particular importance, what would it be?
Definitely Maybe and at the minute anything the Beatles touched.

What are your plans for the future? First to right some amazing songs, keep playing better and better venues then find our break and record a classic. Then the number 1 album and world tour can start.
