Secret Affair
Glory Boys - LP.

Secret Affair were the Small Faces of their era, real Mods who were a part of the scene. Infract lead singer Ian Page and Guitarist Dave Cairns still attend Mod events to this day.

A New Era

Glory Boys wasn’t just an album title. Ian page thought Mods needed a new name to identify themselves in a new era. Glory Boys set the standard for that new era. The sleeve notes set the scene for a night in Soho, The cover picture shows the band dressed to impress. And then there’s the music itself.

Passion and Prose

The title track “Glory Boys” starts off with sound effect s: a song on a duke box, passing traffic and then the lyrics cut through the noise, “I’m just another Glory Boy ……if you want to know ‘bout us you got to be one too” “Time for Action” tells how the Glory Boys and Girls didn’t need anyone’s approval “look at sweet Julia…she don’t care because she knows she’s right”. Passionate lyrics cleverly crafted and delivered by a five piece band that include a brass section and Hammond organ. It’s a timeless album that should appeal to all true music lovers.

Who were the Glory Boys

Secret affair had a hard core of tough East end Mods who followed them religiously from gig to gig. They were the unofficial security for the band. That’s what the album’s about; it’s like a story of the fans and a role call for others to join. When I first heard the LP 20 years ago I knew I wanted to be like the Glory Boys, they were the in crowd of their era.
