How would you describe your sound? Where proper songs meet style and energy What are your main influences? The Clash, David Bowie, Blondie, The Cure, Gang Of Four, Talking Heads, Killers ...
You have a very cool image. Just wondered what are your thoughts on 'image'? Not really something we think about too much. Just happen to enjoy stylish things. Thank you, by the way. Do u think of yourself as Britpop Revivalists ? No, we try to think of ourselves as something a bit more forward thinking than revivalists. Good songs which try to avoid pigeonholes. Isn't britpop a dirty word nowadays? Are there any other bands that you feel a kinship with or can recommend, signed or unsigned? Well, we love Nemo, Rubicks, Mersault music, and Mama Shamone who are all unsigned. Bands that are not really in the same bracket like: Spider. All these people are part of the major Myspace revolution..... www.myspace.com/drinkmeonline Best gigs so far ? Definitely our first Barcelona gig at the Razzmatazz. No matter what you say about playing small gigs to intimate crowds, playing to 1000 people in a room who are rocking and love what you are doing is a great >> big buzz. We are back there this weekend......
Ruth writes songs and I write songs. Sometimes we collaborate and swap instruments. Mostly the recording starts and ends in my home studio. A couple of the songs on the album have live drums and extra guitars but they were finished and edited and added to as we moved along at home. How well did 'Manifesto' do ? We were very surprised at the success of that song. So much so that we have had club play, radio play, license offers in the States, Japan, Italy, Germany, Spain, Norway, Australia and other territories that i can't remember right now. The single which was available primarily on 7" single might well get a cd rerelease. iTunes downloads were also respectable, which helped greatly to propogate the drinkme message in Canada and the States How many releases does the band have? for those who don't know that is We have released one album, an ep and a single on iTunes. The original album (which could almost be described as Britpop meets the pixies.....) was given two separate release dates on 2 different labels, but neither of them rose to the challenge in the end..... iTunes are very supportive of us and our little label! Where did you do the Manifesto Video ? It was mostly shot in and around central London. Outside the Houses of Parliament, and Westminster, and Trafalgar Square. It seems to have had a great deal of exposure, and we are very grateful to the director, Ben Rollason who should become one of the greats. his website: fink-base has other videos of his, and they are all special. What are your future plans? We are looking for a license for our second album, Style Or Content, and once that is sorted, world domination...... Have u seen our site ? thoughts ? Great site. A little clunky on the design, but great taste in music, and that's what counts! Describe Drinkme in three words.. Sexy, intelligent, dumb .. Thanks, Mister sohostrut. |
