It seems ages since we first found 'The Colt 45's', indeed the band sent us the fourthcoming CD 'Rocket Fuel' defo is a year on improvement no doubt about that and it opens and starts well enough, but started to lose me as it went on, I know that the formula here from the Colt 45's is basic pop, and this is indeed that,Anne-Marie's voice saves the day though. sound has grown up But just when I might have thought that the band have moved onwards to much for this site along comes 'Dry London Gin' with its quirky 'talking' vocal from Keith Hansom, and then I saw it ,a band that are really not afriad to do just what they want to do, which is what pulled me towards them last year. What is most noticable on this debut release on 'Leaving Home Records' is the sound has grown up a little as well, it's not so much of DIY Garage about this. For such a young band this is great stuff. |
