Since covering the local scene (Colchester)a while back, the momentum seems to keep gathering pace with a whole host of bands, all very different and storming forward coming to light, Cav-OK are one of those bands and they simply ooze class.
many bands over the past decade
Yeah indeed, Colchester and the surrounding area have not been blessed with many bands over the past decade that really DID that much, I guess Colchester best loved and most talented Indie Sons were/are Blur , also ran's have been Penny Arcade from way back when, leading the way in the area for Britpop/Baggy fronted by the talented Nicky Jarvis but their great promise faded and never became fruitful, so the scene has stalled and halted for years, but there has been a great movement over the past 12 months and at the forefront of Talent come CAV-OK fronted by Damian Tyler the man with that extra special something and of the tunes we were played a band destined for more than Essex also ran's.
Thumping and searching
'Bring Me Round' is a bounder of a tune, the intro working slowly-burning away to boiling point with the guitar and backline dueling well and then the Pop-Tones burst fourth and the tune takes a well formed shape , the tune Thumping and searching, snappy and tuneful. And if it's a more laid back, gritty guitar sound your looking for with almost soulful vocals then 'Games' dot's all the i's and the t's without really ever breaking a sweat, it's clever well crafted experimental pop, that builds and slows perfectly.
Cav-ok ? I'd say so...
