With Target's in their logo, I guess you'd expect a out and out Retro Mod band, but there is a lot more to this band than harking back. The Sound is sharp it is well mixed and even experimental in places, which ain 't no bad thing. The Bands current Demo/Taster doing the rounds Features the twisty Guitar sound of 'Shoot Your Gun' there is defo hints of a band still very much needing or wanting a direction here, but from what we have heard these guy cut it well Live, just no so convinced on 'Shoot Your Gun' But before you all stop reading, it suddenly gets much better on 'Greenline Downtown' a steam roller Guitar leads the way throughout this tune and by the time ' A Storm in the sand' comes at you, you'll start to understand the band, infact 'A Storm' reminds me of early Cure Guitars and then fades into some 60's sounding tune until'THAT' Guitar cuts at you again, yeah this I like... Put these guys in with a good producer and I expect Big things from them..
The band was formed by Christian Pearson the singer back in the summer of 2004. The band are from New Jersey. The singer is English, the guitarist has lived most his life in england until coming back to the states, and the rhythm section are yankies. The band are: Christian – Vocals, Tom– Lead Guitar, Jamie – Bass, Robert - Drums The band got together because of a love of 60’s music and brit pop. The new Jersey music scene tends to have a load bands that all sound the same (shite to be precise). The band’s influences are based in the 60’s. The kinks, Yardbyrds, The Who. Throw in a bit of brit pop such as The Roses, add a bit of new wave/ punk like the Clash and the Stranglers. Mention both “Monkeys” and you are sorted. The songs tend to have a distinct English influence. Teesside, is a sort of new wave dance track about life in Middlesbrough, England. Then songs such as Friday night and greenline are 60’s garage rockers through and through. The Bristol's have been playing in New york, and New Jersey for a couple of years or so. |
