SEVENTY THREE
Well this is a move sideways for Sohostrut, for the most the bands we feature are Retro/Garage/Indie/Mod, but what we have here is something different (for us anyway) a funky mix of dance/Hip Hop and groove and boy do we like what we hear. experiments into recoreded material Yeah Indeed Sevety Three are more than capable of getting the old foot tapping and the bands recent experiments into recoreded material left a good taste on our Shoes."Team Spirit" is one of the most enteratining and interesting tunes I have heard for ages, the track bursts into life with a scratchy "This Is Side Two" and then the vocal talents of the band rush into full force- Kenny on lead vocals leaves no doubt to the listener that this band mean Funky Action. So surrounded not only here on Sohostrut but as a nation as a whole by Indie- Brit Pop- bands this is Good and it works well.Working with producers from the house of Acid Jazz then comes as no surprize- this is the sort of thing that gets Acid Jazz founder Eddie Piller moving I'm sure. A band to be proud of Bunkeruk Records have indeed a band to be proud of here- 'Mad Professor' is more of the same, sweeter soul style Vocals, a ripping bass Line/Bongos and Keyboards that would set alight even the dullest of Dance-floors. This maxi CD also inc a much changed accoustic stomp of "Team Spirit" which is remixed with with deeper Bass, increased Handclaps and vibe. This has been out for sometime now but we only recentley came across the band, so untill they hit us with new stuff to review, we hope this little taster will keep both us and you happy. |
